Skip the PRP for Plantar Fasciitis

A new RCT reinforces a message we've seen before — PRP is "statistically better," but your patient probably won't notice, so why pay for an imperceptible difference?

What’s the Claim?

This one’s as important for two reasons:

  • What to watch out for when reading studies like this
  • What to do for your patients — or, in this case, what not to do

A randomized trial claimed that platelet-rich plasma was more effective than corticosteroid injections in patients with plantar fasciitis. We believe these conclusions are a gross overreach — the “differences” were far too small for the average patient to perceive — and the reasons for our belief in this may help CORRelations readers approach other studies of this type when you see them.
