Sweetening the Physician Recruitment Deal

Starting salaries on the rise for most specialists – 12% for orthopaedic surgeons.

  • From 2021 to 2022, starting salaries in most U.S. specialties were generally up.
  • Orthopaedic surgeons were offered the highest average starting salary.
  • The average signing bonus was $37,473, and average continuing medical education pay offered was $3840.
  • Only two-thirds of positions include all of the following benefits: health insurance, malpractice coverage, a retirement plan, and disability benefits.
