Nice Series of ACL Reconstructions Reinforced With Suture Tape, But . . .

We're not on this bandwagon yet and don't think you should be, either

What’s the Claim?

A case series exploring ACL autografts reinforced with suture tape found that at a minimum follow-up of 3 years:

  • 1% re-ruptured
  • Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) improved — KOOS pain was 94, KOOS symptoms was 86, and KOOS sport and recreation was 82 (all out of 100)
  • Tegner activity scores worsened very slightly from patients’ preoperative status (from 7/10 to 6/10; remember that 10/10 represents national- or international-level contact sport)

How’s It Stack Up?
