New Report on Hospital Regulatory Compliance: A Price Transparency Update

Turquoise Health, a startup that offers a search engine to access price transparency data, published a report about hospitals’ compliance with a federal regulation that requires the public display of charges for hospital services. In particular, the report outlines the new machine-readable file (MRF) formatting requirements that are designed to improve how hospitals display their standard charge information. The report also makes clear that many more hospitals are posting MRFs than in previous years. As of January 1, 2024, CMS may choose to publish when hospitals are out of compliance.

When
