Watch for Biases Favoring PRP in a Meta-analysis of Rotator Cuff Disease
The devil is deep in the details here, and PRP looks better in this study than it probably is
What’s the Claim?
A meta-analysis of 13 randomized controlled trials claimed several clinically important advantages to platelet-rich plasma (PRP) over corticosteroid injections for “rotator cuff disease” in terms of some outcomes scores and pain at 2 to 6 months and beyond 6 months. In the first 2 months after injection, corticosteroid injections outperformed PRP.
